Industry leader joins Tantalum Corporation to perfect Air.Car initiative and battle NOx emissions – “the silent killer of air pollution”

London, 22 January 2018

Connected car specialist and automotive industry thought-leader Alexandra Willard has joined vehicle technology firm Tantalum Corporation (“Tantalum”) to lead the company’s innovative Air.Car programme.

Air.Car (https://www.tantalumcorporation.com/air-car/) is Tantalum’s cutting-edge and award-winning platform, developed in conjunction with scientists from Imperial College London to compute real-time levels of the killer Nitrous Oxide gases being produced by any vehicle. Vehicle pollutants, especially Nitrous Oxides, are estimated to contribute to shortening the lives of c.40,000 people a year in the UK.

Alex previously worked at Ford, Jaguar Land Rover and was the founder and ex-CEO of the telematics company, Lysanda. She has also held advisory roles with the likes of Google, Admiral and Allianz.

Alexandra Willard, new Head of Air.Car at Tantalum, said:

It is so exciting to lead Tantalum’s commercialization of the Air.Car proposition. Air.Car revolutionises how we drive around our cities. I look forward to working with the highly skilled Tantalum team and developing this technology to save lives and win new business.”

Ozgur Tohumcu, CEO at Tantalum, said:
“I am delighted that Alex is joining us. She effectively wrote the book on telematics and on-board diagnostic devices and will introduce Air.Car to the world’s cities and its drivers.”

Notes for Editors

Announced globally at CES 2018, Air.Car’s initial 1,000-vehicle trial began in December 2017 in Bristol, the UK’s top ranked Smart City, and Oxford – with other cities across the globe planned to follow suit.
